Majorly experts categorizes image database management system into two categories,

1.Static Image Database

2.Nonstatic Image Databases

Let’s talk about Static Image Databases:

Static Image Databases essentially record data that is never destroyed,discarded or

modified deliberately.

Most important features of such databases are…

1.Store only images and related textual information.

2.Data once recorded is invariably never removed.

3.Text data is used for query processing to output images and other related text data.

Example:

Art Collections of a Museum.

Note that Paintings,sculptures and related text describing various attributes such as artist name

and medium and value could form the image information content of the database

and it’s amazing that this information recorded in such a database would normally remain forever.

Now We will discuss about Non static Image Databases:

Definition:

This type of image databases record data that may or may not

modified/destroyed.

Features:

1. Store images, text and information extracted from the images

2. Recorded data may be modified or destroyed

3. Text and image data may both be used for query processing

to output other text and image data

Examples:

* Database of fingerprints of criminals.
